Stained Line is a take on politicization of the paintings of artist M.F Hussain for portraying nude Indian goddesses. Looking back into the history, India has had many temples sculpted with nude gods and goddesses. Yet, Hussain was threatened by certain right wing political groups and had to leave the country. He continued his practice in exile with a Middle-East citizenship. By turning knowledge into piercing noise Stained Line depicts the lack of understanding and ignorance of knowing the roots of one’s own culture and religion.
